All account activities are available for you to view in the app under “Billing History”. Credits will appear as positive numbers and charges will appear as negative numbers
If there's a charge in your account that you don't recognize, it might be one of the following:
$5 setup fee: There is a one-time $5 setup fee for Pay-As-You-Go users. Ride time is billed at $0.08/minute and is charged after the rental ends.
Multiple bike usage fees: You can rent up to 4 bikes at a time. Rental time on any additional bikes rented at the same time as the first bike is billed at $0.08/minute.
Extra time fees: Month-to-Month and Annual members (Including Nike employees, PSU students, Portland students and Transportation Wallet members) get 90 minutes of included ride time per dayIf you keep a bike out for longer than 90 minutes at a time (or your cumulative rentals for the day exceed 90 minutes), you will be charged$0.08 for every additional minute.
BIKETOWN for All members also receive 90 minutes of ride time per day. While no extra time fees will be issued, possible account suspension can ensue if the ride time is regularly exceeded.
Locking a bike out of hub: BIKETOWN bikes may be locked free of charge in designated areas such as BIKETOWN hubs, specially marked staple racks (look for the orange BIKETOWN sticker), super hub zones, and pop-up hubs (temporary stations for special events).
Users may park their bikes at non-BIKETOWN racks, but in doing so within the bounds of the service area, will be charged a $2 “ Ride finished outside of hub” fee (there is no charge for Annual and BIKETOWN for all members).
Locking a bike out of the service area: There is a $10 “Ride finished outside of hub” fee to lock a bike to a public bike rack outside the system area. To avoid these, we encourage users to lock bikes at official BIKETOWN stations.
Free-locking a bike: There is a $5 fee for locking bikes only to themselves. Free locking bikes leaves bikes vulnerable to theft and blocks pathways for pedestrians. To avoid this fee, always lock the bike securely to a bike or secure pole when not in use, even when putting the bike on Hold.
Missing U Lock: There is a $20 fee for losing a U-lock. To avoid this fee, always place the U-lock in the designated holster to the left of the keypad while riding and lock the bike securely to a bike rack or secure pole when not in use.
Unsubscription fees: Founding, Nike Employee, BIKETOWN for All, Portland Student, and some other group members are billed in monthly installments. Unsubscribing from one of these types of annual plans before the year is up results in being charged the remaining monthly installments for the year at once.
Lost bike charge: A bike that has been out for more than 24 consecutive hours is considered lost or stolen. The renter is responsible for returning the bike to the system and locking it correctly. You may be charged a $1,500 (plus tax) fee to replace a bike that has been lost or stolen.
Avoid lost bike fees by always ensuring your bike has been properly locked to a bike rack. You can also set up notifications on your phone, so you’ll be alerted when your ride has ended successfully.
Funds added to an account: When setting up an account via the app, you have the option to add funds to your account. These funds are in $5, $10, $15 & $20 increments and appear as credits on your account.
$1 Credits: If you rent an out of hub bike and return it to a station or rent a bike and return it to a priority hub, you will receive a $1 credit. This is a credit (not a charge), and this credit will automatically be applied towards any future charge.
NOTE: Month-to-Month and Annual Members (including Nike employees, PSU students, Portland students, and Transportation Wallet members) are billed the above fees each month on the anniversary of their plan/memberships start date and are notified via email if any fees were incurred.
