BIKETOWN stations are distributed throughout the Portland area and are placed based on population and transport needs. Check out the System Map for the exact locations.
You can ride a BIKETOWN bike outside of the service area, but keep in mind you will have to return to the service area to lock your bike to avoid a $10 out of service area fee. If you keep a bike out for longer than the length of time included in your plan, you will incur additional usage fees. For more info, see the Pricing page.
BIKETOWN terms of service states bikes "cannot be taken on a car, ferry, bus, streetcar, MAX or train, or ride or take a BIKETOWN bicycle outside of the City of Portland".
Please note that TriMet drivers will ask you to please not bring BIKETOWN bikes on the bus or MAX.
We ask that you end your trip at a public bike rack or BIKETOWN station nearest the MAX station or bus stop you will be using. You can find the BIKETOWN bike or station nearest your destination using the app.
Please lock your bike (to a bike rack - do not lock on TriMet or Streetcar property including TriMet bus stop poles) before you get on, and you can pick up another bike when you get off if you’re still in the service area.
