Transportation Wallet FAQ's can be found on the PBOT website.
What is the Transportation Wallet? The Transportation Wallet is an effective, low-cost strategy to reduce parking demand and congestion by increasing trips taken on transit, by biking and walking, and using carshare. The package includes transportation passes and vouchers for use on TriMet, Portland Streetcar, BIKETOWN, and car2go.
How do I sign up for the Transportation Wallet?
Visit www.transportationwallet.com to fill out an online form. You must meet eligibility requirements (see below).
Who is eligible for the Transportation Wallet?
People who live or work in Area Parking Permit Districts “Zone M” in NW Portland, and “Zones G/N” in the Central Eastside Industrial District are eligible.
How much does the Transportation Wallet cost?
The Transportation Wallet costs $99 to purchase. People can also get one for free by trading in their eligible on-street parking permit (rules and restrictions apply).
How do I renew my Transportation Wallet?
Visit www.transportationwallet.com and select the parking district in which you live or work. Fill out the online sign up form, just like you did when you first bought a Transportation Wallet. If you have your BIKETOWN membership set to “auto-renew”, you still must visit www.transportationwallet.com and follow the directions above to indicate you want the full Transportation Wallet package. Otherwise only your BIKETOWN membership will renew. Please note you can only renew a year from your original purchase date (see below).
I already have a Transportation Wallet, and my BIKETOWN membership is set to “auto-renew”. Will this automatically renew the entire Transportation Wallet package?
No. You must go to www.transportationwallet.com, select the parking district in which you live or work, and fill out the form again. You will be asked if you have “ever ridden a BIKETOWN bike”, which alerts us that you are already in the BIKETOWN system. You will not have to fill out your information again on the BIKETOWN webpage. Please note you can only renew a year from your original purchase date.
What if I qualify for Honored Citizen TriMet fare?
TriMet requires income verification to qualify. In order to buy a “low-income” Transportation Wallet you must first register with TriMet and get a low-income Honored Citizen Hop card with your photo. After you get your Hop card, visit www.transportationwallet.com, select the parking district in which you live or work, and follow the prompts to purchase a “Low-Income Honored Citizen fare”. Once you’ve paid for a Transportation Wallet, we will load your Hop card remotely with 50 Day Passes and 20 Single Rides, the equivalent of $150 worth of low-income passes, as well as an annual Portland Streetcar pass. We can only load passes (not value) onto your Hop card. Your card will be loaded within 7 business days.
How long will it take for me to get my Transportation Wallet?
Your BIKETOWN membership is activated after purchasing, so you can begin riding bikes immediately. The rest of your Transportation Wallet passes will be mailed to you within 7 business days.
What if I already have a BIKETOWN membership?
Visit www.transportationwallet.com and fill out the online form. You will be asked if you have “ever ridden a BIKETOWN bike”. Follow the online prompts and a representative from BIKETOWN will switch your current plan to the Transportation Wallet plan using the credit card you already have on file. You will receive the rest of your Transportation Wallet passes in the mail.
